This intense programme, which included, an exposure to and work with dance professionals from all over the word, has led to a further evolution in Surupa's skills.

Surupa was the first soloist to be presented by Nrityagram. She has performed all over India, the United States, Denmark, Holland, Canada, Portugal and the Middle East and has gained national and international recognition for the sensuous beauty of her dance and the dynamic imagery of her choreography.

Surupa is the Artistic Director of The Nrityagram Dance Ensemble and is constantly in search of ways to expand the vocabulary of traditional Odissi dance and create new imagery and movement.

Surupa’s first experimental work, “SRI – In Search of the Goddess” premiered in 2001 and has received acclaim all over the world.
