"IN HARMONIUS MOTION"
The Hindu (Friday, December
6, 2002)
…the sinuous grace, rhythmic dexterity and
splendid synchronisation of the dancers created
sheer poetry in action.
"WORLDS AWAY"
The Village
Voice (May 7, 2002)
…Bijoyini Satpathy and Surupa Sen, side by
side, execute in exquisite unison the rhythmic stamping,
made voluptuous at every pause by the way they settle
softly into one hip. Odissi is bold as well as seductive…Developing
movements drawn from martial arts, Sen creates ingenious
sculpted mountains and knots and living, many-armed
temple statues out of women’s bodies, as Sathpathy
makes her arduous journey.
"DANCE TROUPE FROM INDIA AGILE, PRECISE AND
JUST BRILLIANT"
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
(Monday, March 25, 2002)
…Sen’s dancers
would erupt into movement that surged across the
stage with remarkable speed and agility. But these
women also displayed an uncanny precision in a dance
where every fingertip and every eye glance had to
be in place, something done with uncommon brilliance
in ‘Srimati’ by Sen and Bijoyini Sathpathy. |
