Surupa was the
first soloist to be presented by Nrityagram, the
only dance village of its kind, set up for the preservation
of the seven classical dance styles of India. She
has performed at prestigious venues all over India,
the United States, Denmark, Holland, Canada, Portugal
and the Middle East and has gained national and
international recognition for the sensuous beauty
of her dance. Surupa
is the Artistic Director of The Nrityagram Dance
Ensemble and is constantly in search of ways to
expand the vocabulary of Odissi dance and create
new imagery and movement. |
